‘Pilates in the Grove’ Offers More Than Core Exercise

While enjoying Pilates as a terrific source of exercise both for my body and mind for several years now, I can attest to its wonderful benefits such as developing good body tone, having better balance and increased flexibility.  My studio of choice is Pilates in the Grove, which is owned by some very terrific instructors (also owners of Pilates on the Beach).  Since I live in the center of Coconut Grove, I was thrilled when I discovered Pilates in the Grove–conveniently located on Virginia Street next to Cocowalk–a brisk walk from home. I love not having to think about where to park (although there is plenty of easy parking along Virginia St.).  The studio itself is set up for private Pilates sessions as well as for group classes in separate studios with reformers to accommodate both ladies and men of all ages.  And that’s not all–as an added bonus and invaluable benefit to those with injuries, some of the owners and instructors have impressive backgrounds in physical therapy with years of experience from within our community.   I, myself, have worked with Christa Gurka,  Owner/Instructor, for couple of months while recuperating from a knee injury.  Since having combined physical therapy sessions with my regular Pilates classes,  I am thrilled to report that my knee pain is nearly gone.
