Growing Farmer’s Market in South Florida September 12th, 2014
Miami Goes To Market – add this to the crop of things to do!
If you’re anything like I am on the weekends consist of food shopping and rarely do you find anything really decent left to pick from. Seems like the fruits and vegetables were all picked through and do not look very inviting. The alternative is to go to several different food stores to get everything you’re looking for. Seems like many of you have decided to hit your local Farmer’s Market and get the freshest farm to home products available. Everyone is looking for organic and you can’t get anything more organic than local Florida grown hand picked produce.
A recent article in Miami.com by FredGMiami stated “in the past five years, the number of farmers markets in the United States has increased by 76 percent, and more than two-thirds of the driving population lives within fifteen minutes of at least one, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.” The growing interest and knowledge in the benefits of eating healthy, organic, lower affordable produce prices and the desire in creating local economic growth has helped to make this change occur.
